2016年7月21日Board of Studies president Tom Alegounarias公布英文数学科学历史最重要17门科目高考大纲改革草案，咨询公众意见，计划方案通过后给与老师一年缓冲，2018年11年级学生开始新大纲，2019年12年级学生增加科学加深科目：Science Extension （2018年10月开始读Science Extension）。2016年读9年级的学生开始新大纲。

大家比较关注的数学会怎么变：注重抽象问题的实际应用：所有的数学课程都将教授统计学，并引入个人理财知识。4单元数学课程会更艰深。数学已决定延后一年开始新大纲，2020HSC.
（In maths, there is a new focus on teaching its practical applications for abstract problems by introducing personal finance and statistics at all levels, including extension maths. At the highest level, Extension 2 Maths is expected to become more complex.）
