维州将成为南半球药用大麻之都

世界最大的药用大麻公司Canopy Growth 公司将在维州设立南半球总部，此举将创造200多个就业岗位。

据ABC报道，该公司将斥资1600万澳元在澳大利亚建立一个种植和生产中心，并长期将产品出口到海外。

2016年维州成为澳洲首个合法使用药用大麻的州，但仅限于特殊情况下的患者，如癫痫患儿。维州农业部长Jaala Pulford表示，这是维州最新产业向前迈出的一大步。

她说：“我们这样做的理由在很大程度上是因为我们希望能为那些与疾病搏斗的最需要帮助的人提供支持，当然，为维州社区和经济建立一个全新产业也是我们所积极追求的机会。”

此外，Pulford还表示，该公司将需要一个高度专业化的工作团队，包括了解如何培育大麻的农业科学家和对产品进行精炼的化学家。

Canopy Growth 公司并非是唯一一个来到维州市场的此类公司，维州政府以及另外一家商业种植者也在种植药用大麻。

去年，安德鲁斯政府发布了一项药用大麻战略，旨在到2028年，维州药用大麻的供应量能够满足全澳需求的一半。

ABC的四角方圆（Four Corners ）节目报道称，Canopy Growth公司似乎正在准备将娱乐大麻合法化，并为其药用和娱乐产品申请澳洲专利。
