據信使郵報報道，一名昆州男子多次闖入汽車盜竊借記卡、錢和電子產品，並使用盜竊的借記卡揮霍了數百澳元。周三（7月15日）他被法庭宣判有罪。
法院獲悉，31歲的Brett Michael Laycock以前的工作是修建屋頂。他在2020年3月16日至6月6日之間在Oxley和Inala多次撬開汽車盜竊財物，並用偷來的借記卡積購買食品、煙草、電子產品、遊戲機和支付計程車費。
7月6日，警察看到 Laycock手持一把大刀行走時將其逮捕，並指控其擁有盜竊來的財產、欺詐、擁有武器等一系列罪名。
Laycock周三在法庭上承認有罪。他描述了失去父親後的情感創傷以及與前伴侶的緊張關係併流下了眼淚。「3年前我失去了父親，他是我生命中的榜樣……我失去自己的內心。」
他說隨後他求助於毒品。「從那以後，我轉向了歧途，就再也沒有回頭。」
Laycock表示，雖然很難，但他會努力在布里斯班找工作，他想為自己的小孩子做出更好的榜樣。
地方法院法官Aaron Simpson判處Laycock四個月的密集改正令，並命令歸還所盜財產。
