據ABC報道，The Star賭場因違反防疫規定而被新州酒類與博彩管理局罰款$5,000。多名顧客被發現站著喝酒與賭博，而根據新州公共衛生令，客人必須坐著消費。衛生廳已證實，該酒店的確診和Crossroads Hotel聚集感染有關。
酒類與博彩管理局執行總監Dimitri Argeres表示，該部門已檢查賭場3次，「大家在酒精的作用下賭博是會有病毒傳播風險的。」這已經是有關部門第二次開出此類罰款。上周，悉尼東部城區Golden Sheaf Hotel外大排長龍，該酒店因而被罰款$5,500澳元。
另外，新州衛生廳證實，The Star賭場的病例與悉尼西南部Crossroads Hotel聚集感染有關，該酒店已直接或間接造成40餘人感染。
新州首席醫療官Kerry Chant表示，日益增長的病例也說明了追蹤接觸者和檢測的重要性。「大家可以看到，有一些病例是其他病例的密切接觸者，如果我們不迅速採取措施的話，新冠病毒傳播速度有多快。」
Chant還說，部分Crossroads Hotel的病患曾到過悉尼西南部、South Coast和Sutherland Shire部分商家。澳洲邊防局一名發言人表示，悉尼西南部Villawood Detention Centre員工也曾到過該酒店，目前正進行自我隔離。
另外，據稱悉尼西南部Edmondson Park的St Francis Catholic College大約25名教師於7月3日去過Crossroads Hotel，他們已經接受檢測，結果多數呈陰性。該校校長在致給家長的信件中提到，在具有傳染性期間，這些教師並沒有和學生接觸。
據悉，該酒店為旅客們和卡車司機運送貨物到其他州的一個樞紐地點，非常繁忙，當局呼籲7月3日至10日之間到過Crossroads Hotel的人接受檢測和隔離。
